Chin augmentation is a procedure that increases the projection of the chin in the profile and in the frontal views. The procedure is often done in conjunction with rhinoplasty or face lift.

In a chin implant procedure, a silastic implant is placed directly over the jaw bone at the point of the chin, via an incision inside the mouth just in front of the lower central teeth. The surgery takes about a half an hour and is done on an outpatient basis. The anesthesia can be sedation or general anesthesia and is up to the patient's preference.
